Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Organic Farmers’ Self Help Groups (OFSHGs) form the basis of all our activities in our villages. In the initial years itself Samhathi had promoted 1640 SHGs to organize and empower the traditional fisher folk and other backward communities in 85 villages of Alappuzha and Ernakulum districts of Kerala State in India. Samhathi activities currently reach out to 3, 10,000 people living in 85 villages.

To equip and empower the people, various training sessions, ranging from basic awareness building to specialized skill employment and HRD trainings, are conducted in an ongoing manner with an average of 300 to 450 trainings a year.
